Hi, I’m Emma Carpenter
I’m a licensed Marriage & Family therapist who works with individuals, couples, and families facing the stress and overwhelm of modern life. Whether it’s work-life balance, relationships, or the constant pressure to keep up, I help clients find clarity, resilience, and a greater sense of well-being. My approach is direct, compassionate, and collaborative, using real-life tools for lasting change.

My Focus
Today's world is far from simple and straightforward, and no one handed us a guidebook after graduation to navigate the complexities of being newly independent adults. It's normal to feel overwhelmed when relationships, transitions, or life in general start to feel like too much to handle. During these moments, you deserve someone who truly comprehends what you're going through.
I specialize in working with millennial and modern couples who grapple with a range of stressors. Whether it's the weight of prolonged higher education, financial difficulties stemming from student debt or career transitions, the delay of significant life milestones (like buying a house, getting married, or starting a family), or the unsettling shadows of infidelity and insecurity in the realm of social media – I'm here to help you find your way. Using the Gottman Method, I help couples strengthen their connection, improve communication, and manage conflict more effectively. Through research-based tools and interventions, I guide partners in building trust, deepening intimacy, and creating a more resilient and fulfilling relationship.
I also work closely with individuals who grew up with emotionally immature or unavailable parents and now struggle with the lasting effects of complex trauma. Using a blend of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I help clients gently access and heal wounded parts of themselves while releasing painful memories stored in the nervous system. These integrative approaches support deep emotional processing, foster self-compassion, and promote lasting change from the inside out.
In my work with families, I support parents in navigating the challenges of raising children while nurturing a strong couple relationship. I help families manage conflict, improve communication with teen and adult children, and explore generational patterns that may be impacting connection. Together, we work to build greater understanding, harmony, and lasting connection within your family.
Through our work together, you can look forward to:
Increasing your self-esteem and confidence
Building secure attachments that make you feel safe within your relationships
Healing from past traumas and managing the transitions life throws your way
Overcoming challenging relational issues and finding harmony in your connections
I have advanced training in sex therapy, sexuality, and sexology, which enables me to support clients in exploring and improving their sexual well-being in a safe, affirming space. My approach is inclusive and affirming of LGBTQ+ identities and consensual non-monogamy (ENM).
I provide appointments at our Philadelphia office along with the option for online sessions for residents of both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
My rate per 50-minute session is $180 for individuals, $200 for couples
